Dilek Onur-Taylor, owner of Enve Salon and Spa, has been tapped to represent the new Re:nu Age Defy Hair Care System from Joico. "I truly believe," says Onur-Taylor, "that this is the next best thing in professional hair care."

If Onur-Taylor’s DNA was ever submitted for testing, no doubt the results would reveal that achievement is embedded deeply in her genes. This Chicago-based salon owner and guest artist for Joico and ISO started her career as a kid and hasn’t stopped.

While most teens were focused on parties and driver’s permits, Onur-Taylor enrolled in cosmetology school while she was still in high school. She graduated both, obtained her license and was immediately hired by a local salon. By the time she was 22, she had purchased the business, which she owned and operated for 12 years. At that point, her clientele and team were so solid, she moved to a larger space and “reinvented” her salon. The result is the Enve Salon and Spa, a 2,500 square-foot beauty oasis with eight dedicated staffers and a hip, South Beach vibe. “We’re in a relatively conservative neighborhood just outside of Chicago,” Onur-Taylor relates, “and we’re known as ‘the edge’ in the area. People come from all over, even downtown, because they know that everything we do is modern."

Onur-Taylor has served as an educator and guest artist for the Joico brand for12 years. “I initially helped out at an Joico event and I thought they were so progressive and exciting,” she reveals. “I wanted to be part of that.” Since then, the partnership has been mutually beneficial, with Onur-Taylor benefiting from the company’s progressive products and artistry and Joico benefiting from her passion and skill as an educator.

As Re:nu’s spokesperson, Onur-Taylor will meet with beauty editors and distributors, and spearhead the training for Joico’s network of artists and salon advisors. She has already been involved in product testing and reports that clients are enthusiastic. “They can’t wait for the official release,” she says, “and I’m really excited to be able to share something like this, something that the industry has never seen before."
